Land Trusts have acquired a bad reputation recently due to the abuses of a few organizations.  The generous tax credits given by the federal government sometimes make cheating on an easement too hard to resist.  Thus, it is our goal not only to conserve the land, but to conserve it with integrity.  Based off of the standards and practices required for membership into the Land Trust Alliance, a national non-profit organization self described as, “the convener, strategist and representative of land trusts across America,” our ethical agenda is preventative of abuse before it occurs.

Four main areas we concentrated on to ensure responsible action include:

  1. Credibility
  2. Sustainability
  3. Stewardship
  4. Ethical Operations.

Each of these has been addressed by our staff who understands the importance of the situation.  We would be happy to share our standards and practices in more detail with you – see our contact information.
